Bento: More Bits of Goodness (272)

Bento 272

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! That is the sound of happiness and contentment on my part. Being able to go to my freezer again and pull out bits and pieces to pack my lunch in the mornings is a most WONDERFUL thing to have again. I think I have enough in there for a few weeks, but there is more to come. The wontons you see in today’s bento are running short. I have plans to stay home this weekend because it will be abonimably cold for Louisiana. Those at-home plans include some cooking, and in particular, some wonton making. I’m debating whether I want to purchase the wonton wrappers or to try to make my own as I did once in the long ago past. I enjoyed making the wrappers last time but was unable to rough the dough out thin enough to my liking. I’m thinking I need a pasta machine for that. Don’t you think? Who has an extra Atlas pasta machine you don’t really need? ROTFLMBO. If you have an Atlas, you need it. What I really want is the KA attachment for rolling out pasta dough. I just might have to look into it.

As for today’s bento, it’s chocked full of goodness out of my freezer. Love it! We have a mini meatloaf cut into slices and sitting ontop of a cut-up lentil cake that you can’t see. Above the mini meatloaf/lentil cake section are two vegetarian wontons. I love those things. Must make more. To the left is a silicone cup of crabmeat au gratin (yummers) with a bit of steamed green beans below. If you notice, I had the crabmeat au gratin in a little cup in yesterday’s bento. This stuff oozes all over the place when you reheat it. It’s tasty as all get out, just unmanageable. I’m starting to wonder what it would be like if I heated it up to oozy goodness and used it as a topping for a bit of angel hair pasta. It might be an experiment I try tonight.

Be the bento everyone! Happy Thursday!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that I have an orange with a bit of dark chocolate packed for dessert again. In a separate container of course. I didn’t bother with taking a picture of that today. :)

The orange and dark chocolate are a perfect ending to a perfect lunch! Yum!

I must say Aimee, I heartily approve. And it has turned out to be a fairly inexpensive “dessert” as well. Albertsons recently had navel oranges, Buy 1 bag, Get 1 free. I got 16 navel oranges for $3. Definitely a good price in my neck of the woods!
