Bento: Chicken Stir Fry (189)

Bento #189: Chicken Stir Fry

I’m so feeling the love with this bento tonight.  Tonight, I’m going to go to sleep with a big ol’ smile on my face because my lunch for tomorrow is packed, my kitchen is clean, and I have leftovers for another day or so of bento.  WOOHOO!  I can’t tell you how very seldom that happens.

Tomorrow’s bento includes:
Large tier: chicken stir fry with broccoli and orange sweet peppers, chunky carrot kinpira
Small tier: Orange and blueberry skewers, chocolate covered pretzels.

I found a recipe for a stir fry sauce that used hoisin as its base.  I love it!  It’s the first stir fry sauce I’ve found I actually like.  I plan to share the recipe with you all soon.  I didn’t take pictures tonight since I wasn’t sure how it would come out.  I’ve had alot of kitchen failures lately and was worried this would be another one.

At first, I had cut the carrots into small chunks to include in the stir fry.  Then, I realized all I had left was orange peppers.  I decided that was too much orange looking stuff in the stir fry, plus I needed a “side dish” so to speak.  Instead, I used them to make a carrot kinpira follow Just Bento’s recipe.  They came out pretty well, though I think I overcooked it a bit.

Chicken Stir Fry

And because I can, here is a picture of tonight’s stir fry dinner.  I didn’t have any noodles for stir fry.  Normally, I used a pack of ramen noodles.  I had to make do with thin linguine noodles, but it worked out well I think.

Mushroom Key Cap

And now for a completely random picture, or maybe not too terribly random.  When I made my recent Ichiban Kan order, I ordered something that was completely unneccessary, but I wanted it.  I really like the looks of their key caps and think this mushroom one is just too cute.  Don’t you agree.  Heheheheee.  It brings a nice grin to my face for a quick buck.  :)

Be the bento everyone and have a great Wednessday (when it gets here!)

    Your bento looks delicious!
I was wondering, what size is the bento box you used here?

    • Jenn says:

      Christine,

That is the Urara blue rectangular box. It is the one in my current photo giveaway prize package.

The larger tier is 360ml and the smaller is 250 ml.
      Hope that helps.

  4. Christine says:

    Oh sorry, the blue one.
